In his book Intellectuals and Society, Thomas Sowell wrote this about knowledge,
It is doubtful whether the most knowledgeable person on earth has even one percent of the total knowledge on earth, or even one percent of the consequential knowledge in a given society.
What Sowell wrote about consequential knowledge applies to the subset of business knowledge as well. While the core concepts remain the same, it is impossible for any one individual to cover the entire spectrum of businesses and be an expert on marketing and pricing for businesses of all types and sizes.
It takes countless number of hours to gain the knowledge, test it and adapt it from countless real world experiments. Some have done just that. Collectively their knowledge is more than any one person can claim to have. The great thing about these people is that they are willing to share that knowledge.
I am excited to announce a new series of articles in this blog. Leading experts on pricing and strategic marketing from academia to industry agreed to answer some of the pressing questions we face in pricing.
The honor of being first in the series goes to Reed Holden, co-author of Pricing with Confidence and co-author of The Strategy and Tactics of Pricing 2nd and 3rd Editions (my favorite pricing book).
Look forward to this great series!
